Jayna Manoushe is a second generation Bellydancer who grew up in the Los Angeles area.
Throughout her life, sounds of Middle Eastern music danced through the house as her Armenian dad, from Lebanon, played the oud (a double stringed guitar-like instrument) and her mom, white gal from Ohio, played the tabla (hand drum) and zills (finger cymbals).
Though she never aspired to be a Bellydancer, Jayna loved her jazz, modern dance and gymnastics classes. It wan't until her early 20's-when she saw a troupe by the name of The Flowers of the Desert perform a fusion routine to Kashmir by Led Zeppelin. They were like the sinners of Bellydance! Crawling around on the floor, dusting themselves off to undulate and shimmy...Jayna was in love!
From there, she studied with and joined numerous dance companies around LA which lead to touring the globe with The Bellydance Superstars, headed by Rock producer Miles Copeland.
